Fun in SLC!

Last week, we headed up to Salt Lake for my annual checkup on my nonexistent colon. I'm happy to say that we got a good report from the doctor. He said that things were looking so good that I wouldn't have to be on medication and that I only have to come back every two years now. YEAH!!! That was the best news of the trip. We decided to take it easy and take a few extra days off just to visit with family and get back in touch with everyone. I have to say that this was one of the more fun medical trips that I have been on and it was a lot more relaxed than I thought it would be. Oh and we went and did little shopping for the house that we are STILL waiting to get into. So anyway, here are some pictures from our trip.

Random Moments of Silliness

Things can get pretty crazy at our house when you have a little boy like Jaiden. He is always looking for something to get into. Here are just a few examples...

We've replaced the binky with chocolate ice cream to keep him happy. :)

Jaiden broke into Grandma's stash of those bowl covers that look like shower caps and decided that he needed to try one on.

Jaiden likes to sit under his favorite blanket with his dad and point to all of the monkeys on it. I think it is so cute.

Our little trip to Cali

So, a couple of weeks ago, me and Sara left Blanding and our husbands (they had to work) to fly over to California for a couple of family events. I wish you all could have seen very pregnant Sara and me, very young mother, trying to maneuver our 5 pieces of luggage, a car seat and Jaiden in a stroller around the Salt Lake City Airport. It was hilarious. We had to have help from every man that wandered into our path. We probably looked pretty pitiful. I thought that was the funniest (and most tiring) part of our trip. But we survived and we had a whole lot of fun out in California with the family. It was good to see everyone and we loved every minute of it.

Jaiden loved watching all of the men working outside around the plane. (I don't really know what they are called...crew men. We'll just make up that name for them.)

Here's a funny, little story: We bought Cinnabuns at the airport before we left for our last flight back to Salt Lake for breakfast the next morning. The next morning me and Jaiden started eating our huge cinnamon roll and Jaiden just gradually took control over it. So these are some pictures of him sitting on our bed (w/ nice clean white sheets) watching TV while he sticks his finger into the gooey cinnamon roll, pulls it out and licks off all of the goo. This is how a Cinnabun cinnamon roll really should be eaten. I just feel bad for the maid that had to clean after that messy breakfast.

Happy Father's Day!!!! (belated)

This is late because my internet has been down lately but I Just wanted to wish a happy father's day to all of the dads and future dads (Jeremy and Joe) out there, especially to Justin. He has been such a good father to our little Jaiden and I am so grateful for all that he does for our family and how hard he works every day. I love you Justin!

We've pulled the plug!!

We finally did it! Jaiden is officially done with his binky. After a weekend of screaming and crying every time we put him in his crib and a week after that of adjusting to sleeping without it, he is almost back to normal. He doesn't cry or anything when we put him to bed now and the only thing that has changed from before we got rid of his binky is that he wakes up at 6 now instead of 7:30 which isn't too fun. It is nice though not to have to look for it all the time.

Happy Mom's Day!!!

I want to say Happy Mother's Day to everyone including my mom, my mother-in-law, my sisters and sister-in-laws and all of my girlfriends, both mothers and future mothers. They are all so special to me. I have had a fun Mother's Day. I had a little bit of a cold so I didn't get to go to church with the rest of the family but it is almost gone now so that is good. My mom gave me a beautiful pot of flowers (mums) to plant at my new house when we move into it and Justin gave me a really good book, (I LOVE books) and of course I was given a lot of good stuff to eat. Justin even bought me an apple pie yesterday to have for desert tonight. He sure knows the way to make me a happy mom. The book that Justin gave me is called, "It's Okay to Take a Nap and Other Reassuring Truths for Mothers Everywhere". He said that he saw the title and knew that was the book for me. hee hee So I am halfway through it already and there is a chapter where the author gives a list of "Five Wonderful and Unexpected Surprises I Have Experienced in Motherhood so Far:" I loved the things that she wrote and I decided to write my own little list for a Mother's Day post. I will only do three though just to spare you from reading a REALLY long post. So here it is,

Three Wonderful and Unexpected Surprises
I Have Experienced in Motherhood So Far:

1. You can never get enough of looking into your newborns eyes.
I remember a night that I was up with Jaiden when he was just a few weeks old. He was having some bubbles that were making him uncomfortable and he just couldn't get back to sleep. Once I calmed him down, I sat down on the couch and rocked him for a little while. While I rocked him in the dark living room, I really couldn't see anything but his big dark eyes looking up at me and just being able to look at his eyes made me glad to be a mom.
2. You will quickly get over your fear of singing out loud.
I never did any kind of a solo before I was a mom. I don't think anybody had ever heard me sing in public. But now I sing almost every day just to keep things running smoothly in the house. I can proudly say that I will sing 5 rounds of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" just to get us through a shopping trip if I need too.

3. Playing with your child lets you remember all of the fun things that you liked to do when you were little. I LOVE playing with Jaiden outside. I think it is because that was my favorite thing to do when I was little. Going and digging in Grandma and Grandpa's back yard is Jaiden's favorite thing to do and I am so glad that he can share the same back yard that I grew up in.

Hangin' out at Grandma's

The other day, Grandma was lying on the couch watching TV and Jaiden decided he needed some cuddles so he climbed up on the couch and snuggled right in.
